The Magnificent 7 ride in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support

On the 7th of July 2010,  seven local  riders, on seven motorbikes will embark on a gruelling challenge to ride 3000 miles in seven days visiting 14 European countries in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.




The Magnificent 7 will depart from the Angel of the North, Newcastle upon Tyne on the 
7th minute of the
7th hour of the
7th day of the
7th month to visit
7 European capital cities in less than
7 days, travelling through France - Switzerland - Italy - Liechtenstein - Slovenia - Hungary -Slovakia - Austria - Czech Rep - Germany - Netherlands - Luxembourg -Belgium - England
After riding through 14 countries they will be heading back, to finish at the Angel of the North at around 7pm on Tuesday 13th July.

James is a 'border' raider in his first race's

BikeWise Mini Bike Club's, nine year old,  James Alderson travelled North with his parents Michelle and Stephen recently,  to compete in the Scottish Mini Bike Championship's, at Kircaldy.
This was Jame's first race meeting and he qualified on pole position and was third overall in his class after the day's racing.
BikeWise is rightly proud of Jame's achievement and look forward to seeing his results over the season.

BBC NI Coverage of the NW200

The BBC brings you the NW200 on TV, Online, Radio and Red Button
Up to 30 cameras will capture the action on the circuit including onboard cameras, heli-camera and kerb cams.

First up is the preview programme on BBC One Northern Ireland on Friday night May 14 from 10.35pm, live from the paddock with special guests.
Live Red button coverage starts at 3pm on race day, Saturday May 15.
Two, one-hour specials on BBC One Northern Ireland on Sunday, May 16 at 10.15pm and Monday, May 17 at 10.35pm, will be presented by Stephen Watson with commentary by Keith Huewen, Steve Parrish and NW200 legend Phillip McCallen .

We will be streaming every race live from 11am on Saturday 15th May, plus the two practice sessions : Tuesday, May 11 ( 7pm - 9pm ) and Thursday, May 13 ( 10am - 2pm).
The coverage reached over 200,000 people in 87 countries last year.
To add to the race and practice session web streams, we plan to add a second dedicated Pit Cam stream, which will focus on pit lane and the grid area, to let you see more of the activity around the mechanics and riders as they prepare to race around the circuit.

A689rd - Killhope Lead Mine - BE AWARE !!

Be Aware when travelling on the A689rd at the entrance to Killhope Lead mine. Directley opposite the entrance to the Lead Mine there is a tree felling operation. HGV's are turning in and out of this entrance and there is mud on the road. Please look at the photo's / map of the location and adjust your speed accordingly. Just west of this location there are some roadworks where a dry stone wall is being rebuilt (location of Durham's Wait a Second campaign). Temporary traffic lights are in operation.

Sorry but we're having to cancel today as the weather has done what we didn't want it to do - rain.........
It's had a good shower over here at Durham and the ground is wet...
Please check your emails and look at the website for the next date - as soon as we can check with County Hall re the availability of the car park at Carrville we'll post a new date.
Regardless - Warden Law is on, on the night of Monday 10th May...

Katie goes BikeWise.....

15yr old Katie Williamson, a founder member of the BikeWise Mini Bike Club has, with the help of her parents, Hazel & Stuart gone racing with the Auto 66 Club. Katie went to Brands Hatch in Kent, in February to gain her competition licence and started racing at Elvington in Yorkshire on Sunday 4th April, where she earned 6th and 9th places in her first races. Katie has received some sponsorship from the North Yorkshire Road Racing Supporters Club and is seen in these pictures receiving a cheque for £100 from BikeWise. The cheque was handed to Katie by  PC John Bowman of the Motorcycle Section.

BikeWise Easter Egg Run - THANK YOU.....

A Big 'THANK YOU' to all the riders, families & members of the public who came out and showed their support for the BikeWise Easter Egg Run on Sunday 4th April.
Over 800 motorcycles turned up, bringing with them hundred's of Easter Egg's which will be distributed between the region's hospitals and special needs schools over the next couple of weeks.

In addition £800 was donated by the motorcyclists on the day and this will be donated to the Meningitis Research Foundation.



Many Thanks to Cleveland Police Motorcyclists and the Durham Advanced Motorcycle observers who helped marshall the event with the Durham 'team'.

Thanks again, to all the motorcyclists who made this event a great day for the regions 'biking community..
