3SIXTY Stunt Bike Team @ BikeWise 2017

DSC_0335Anyone who has ever ridden a mountain bike, or popped a wheelie on their BMX will love this!

For the most exciting tricks and gravity defying leaps don’t miss the amazing bicycle stunt team.

The 3SIXTY display riders tackle obstacles with precise, calculated and effortless leaps.

Riders never appear out of control and actually deliver the show commentary through helmet microphones whilst riding.

Safety is important. These skills are achieved through hundreds of hours of dedicated and safe practice, a message reinforced throughout each 3SIXTY display.
3SIXTY riders are role models making cycle safety and helmet wear ‘cool’.
Founding member of 3SIXTY Ian Drummond has been a regular visitor to BikeWise over the years and once again we look forward to watching the skills that most of us can only dream of

‘Show Us Yours’ @ BikeWise 2017

Custom & Classic image (land) (1)If you have a Classic or Custom bike then we would love to see it (& so would all the people who come to the show)

To ‘Show us Yours’ all you have to do is either bring it along to Police HQ on the afternoon of Saturday 22rd July between 2pm & 5pm (Ask for Ali)  or between  0900hrs & 0945hrs on Sunday 23rd July (BikeWise Show)

The only stipulation we have is that you will not be able to take it off the site until the show ends (about 1700hrs) as the whole of the site is pedestrianized for the event and we cannot have motorcycles being ridden through the public !!

All you have to do is fill a form in which will be available on the day from PC Ali Bonar and there are many different classes with some lovely trophies to be won. So go on… share your pride & joy with us and lets see what ‘gems’ we have tucked away in the North East.

If you need further details then please ring 0191-3752136 and ask to speak to Ali OR email us at : durham.bikewise@gmail.com

The Royal Signals Motorcycle Display Team – The White Helmets

White HelmetsThe Royal Signals Motorcycle Display Team  will be appearing at BikeWise 2017…….

This will be one of their last appearances as shortly after they confirmed their attendance at BikeWise 2017 it was announced the team will be disbanded after this summers performances.

This will be a unique opportunity to see the White Helmets who have been acknowledged as the oldest, best known and most accomplished motorcycle display team in the country, if not the world.

Formed in 1927, this season marks the 90th anniversary of the Team performing displays of motorcycling skills and whilst horses gave way to motorcycles in the display in 1937, many of the tricks they perform today are similar to those of the original riders. Based on their iconic helmets the Team adopted the world famous name ‘The White Helmets’ in 1963.  This coveted and prestigious item is an honour to wear and marks the riders out as one of the few able to perform such acts of skill.

The Team’s 23 riders on classic 750cc Triumph Tiger machines provide a fast paced, action packed display.  Wearing the full dress uniform of the Royal Signals along with their famous White Helmets the riders will perform a combination of high speed crossovers, spectacular jumps, skilful feats of balance as well as numerous reverse rides.

The Royal Signals has come a long way since those formative days using motorcycles to carry messages across the battlefield and are now modernising their image to show they truly are ‘Leaders in a Digital Age’.  Whilst this is the last year of entertaining and thrilling crowds with their dazzling arena displays, the Team’s excited to be performing one final season; demonstrating the teamwork, discipline and courage of the Royal Signals soldier.

UK Minimoto Championship–Thank You

IMG_5109Many Thanks to Alan McIntosh for bringing  Round 1 of the UK Minimoto Championship to  Teesside Karting today (Sunday 30 April)

This round was staged with support from the Durham Agency Against Crime & BikeWise and gave members of the BikeWise Mini Bike Club an opportunity to race in a major mini bike championship (which has helped to kick start a large number of local riders into competing, successfully in major adult classes of motorcycle racing throughout the country)

Many Thanks to all the families & riders who travelled south from Scotland to compete in this meeting, to all the BikeWise riders & their families for supporting the event & to Paul Franklin & staff from Teesside Autodrome for the use of the track ( and the continued availability fortnightly on a Tuesday evening) & finally to Alan McIntosh for giving riders the opportunity to compete & progress with their riding skills

The weather shone today and we had a great afternoon’s racing, plenty of photos of the day to follow..
