BikeWise Mini-Bike Club goes International !!

Andy & Jordan Hammill (both members of BikeWise Mini-Bike Club) found the following sites whilst looking on the internet.....

Le Journal Du Motard and PocketBike Magazine

Both Magazines show the picture of Durham's 'finest' riding the club mini-bikes at it's launch last year (Note : Mick Alder at the back...)
The translation roughly says :
"Usually the only contact between the police force and the pocketbikes consists with the arrest of their young pilots at the time of the use of these machines, which is, recall it, completely prohibited on the public highway. In order to stage with the problem of the lack of structure aiming at accomodating these pilot apprentices in a framed way, the English police force of Durham has just set up its own club open to all and even created its own stable of pilot-police officers!"

So looks like we'll have to call all our club members 'Pilots' from now on... (but we don't give 'air miles' with club membership !!)

New Look -BikeWise News

Yes, this is the new header you will see when you 'log on' to BikeWise News....
The good news is you will see a lot more of it this spring/summer if you are travelling in the Durham Dales & surrounding area's as it will be on the back of Weardale & Arriva buses travelling through the Dales and surrounding area's. The 'Wait A Second' message is something that BikeWise has been promoting for a few years and came about as a a result of a fatal motorcycle accident we had to deal with - so Please... Wait A Second !!

Happy New Year.....

Happy New Year to you all......
Here's wishing you a safe 2008
Hopefully there will not be as much rain as in 2007 and we'll all be out on two wheels enjoying our motorcycling.
Now is an important time to maybe do a bit of maintenance on the bike, tyres, chains, brakes etc... to be ready for that nice dry day.....
Look out for us on the roads of Durham and have a chat with us to find out what is, or 'is not' happening in the area..
Remember... If you see any of the big yellow coloured road signs - Bends Dead Ahead and Roads To Die For .... They have been put there for a reason... (With the support of Durham County Council we will hopefully extend this scheme again this coming year)
Some new things planned for this year - watch this space.... and remember two important diary dates :
Easter Egg Run - Sunday 23rd March
BikeWise 2008 - Sunday 27th July

'Safe Riding' - 'The BikeWise Team'

Happy New Year.....

Happy Christmas...

Well it's that time of year, to wish you all a 'Happy Xmas' and 'Thank You' for all your help and support of what we having been trying to achieve over the last year..
The Easter Egg Run & BikeWise were both great events and we met a lot of people out on the roads enjoying their motorcycling in County Durham.
Durham Advanced Motorcyclists once again were out on the roads promoting safe, system riding and a big thank you to all the committee, observers and members.
The BikeWise Mini-Bike Club has gone from strength to strength and the riders are progressing so quickly and it will be interesting to see them on the roads when they get to that age !!
Sadly, once again some riders have lost their lives on Durhams roads and at this time of year we should maybe reflect on what we have done to improve your own riding and look forward to 2008..
The Easter Egg Run will be held on Sunday 23rd March and BikeWise will be held on Sunday 27th July 2008. Make sure to put the dates in your diaries & tell your friends. Best Wishes and look forward to seeing you all in 2008...
