3rd BikeWise Mini-Bike Club meeting - Photo's

At Last ..... The rain held off and we were able to hold our 3rd Mini-Bike Club meeting at the Police HQ at Aykley Heads. Many Thanks to all the riders and parents who came - we hope you had a good day.. Remember to tell us what you thought of the day in the BikeWise Guestbook

Bike Specific Signage Appear on County Durham Roads

Motorcycle specific signs are now placed at strategic places throughout the County where motorcyclists have had, or could have problems.

The signs have been produced by the Durham Road Safety Partnership and we are indebted to the support of Donald Waller from Durham County Council who has arranged for the production & siting of the signs. The photo shows : Ch.Insp Tim Wilson, (Head of Road Policing), Durham County Councillor - John Shuttleworth, Mick Alder & Ali Bonar from the motorcycle section, in the Durham Dale's.

BikeWise Mini-Bike Club at BikeWise Show

BikeWise - the annual event at our Police HQ is taking place on Sunday 29th July. Full details of this years attractions will soon be updated onto our main BikeWise website.

We intend to run a Mini-Bike club at the event to promote the club and would hope that you can all attend. We will need the support of parents etc to run this event as we will be 'stretched' for staff. Any assistance you can give would be appreciated. As for our riders - you'll have to start 'polishing' your bikes - there's going to be a lot of people 'looking in' at what you're doing & I've no doubt you'll have a great day.. See you on Saturday.. Ridewell - Cancelled

Cleveland Police regretfully have had to cancel this years Ridewell event (8th July)due to flooding within the venue, any enquiries can be directed to 01642 301574

Durham Dales 2007

Footage from Tyne Tees TV News item about Durham Police Motorcycle Section's work in the Durham Dales.
Shows how vehicle's can be 'lost' behind the dry stone walls of the Dales roads which prompted the 'Wait A Second' campaign after a local rider was killed.

'Gordon' - Mike 'Spike' Edwards

Mike 'Spike' Edwards from Harrogate is a top international motorcycle rider & also an ACU instructor.

Mike travelled up to Durham at the beginning of the year & with the help of some colleagues taught us how to run the BikeWise Mini-Bike Club.

Mike told us about 'Gordon', his project racing bike, a Yamaha SZR 660 which he bought off EBay for £454. Mike has rebuilt 'Gordon', with a little help from his 'friends'. BikeWise is one of Gordons friends so visit his Website & Blog and see how he is doing this year.

Due to the wet weather conditions the BikeWise Mini-moto event on Sunday 13th May has had to be cancelled.

Discount to BikeWise Mini-Bike Club Members

Karting North East (Warden Law) has agreed to give BikeWise Mini-Bike Club members a 20% discount off their Monday night Mini Moto sessions (4pm-9pm).
